The Queensland Government is delivering more social housing for people in need in Springwood as part of its Big Build.
Construction has commenced on a 16-unit social housing complex, being delivered with more than $7.2 million funding.
The complex will include 12, one-bedroom and four, two-bedroom homes.
The majority of the homes will be accessible for seniors and people with disability, with four designed to Platinum level and eight designed to Gold level under the Liveable Housing Design guidelines.
The homes will be targeted towards seniors looking to downsize from larger social homes, as well as providing safe and secure housing for single people, couples, young people, people with disability and small families from the state’s Social Housing Register.
These homes form part of the Queensland Government’s target of 53,500 social homes by 2046 as part of the Homes for Queenslanders plan.
With the commencement of the complex, it marks another important milestone in my commitment to deliver safe and affordable homes for our neighbourhood.
This development represents hope and stability for everyone who calls this community home.
Since 2015, we have delivered over 500 affordable government homes in the region, and the Big Build is our commitment to accelerating to construction of good, secure government led housing.
